Who Paid for the Turf? Meet TurfLedger

Every Team Has a Treasurer Nobody Elected

You know the one.

The match ends at 9 PM. Everyone is tired, happy and already arguing about that offside call. And then, while the rest of the squad heads home, one person opens the group chat and starts typing:

"Bhai, turf was ৳4,500. That's ৳409 each. Rafi, you still owe from last week. Tanim, did you send it or not?"

Then come the screenshots. The "sent!" messages with no proof. The friend who paid ৳500 and wants his change counted. The spreadsheet that was accurate in March and has been fiction ever since.

Nobody signed up to be the team accountant. But almost every Friday football group in Dhaka has one.

We built TurfLedger for that person.

Meet TurfLedger

TurfLedger is a match and money ledger for football teams in Bangladesh. It brings everything that happens off the pitch into one place:

  • match planning, with the turf, time, squad and cost together,
  • fair cost splitting in BDT, accurate to the poisha,
  • player balances that show who owes, who has credit and who is settled,
  • payment records for cash, bKash, Nagad and bank transfers,
  • and monthly reports so the whole season adds up.

Our tagline says it best: more playing, less chasing.

How It Works

1) Plan the match, not the message thread

A match in TurfLedger has everything the squad needs before kickoff: the turf, the time, the players and the cost.

Pick who is actually playing. Not who said "inshallah" in the group chat on Tuesday, but the eleven who turned up. The shares update instantly as players are added or removed.

2) Split every poisha

Here is the part we are a little bit proud of.

Take a ৳4,500 turf shared by 11 players. Divide it and you get ৳409.0909... forever. Most people round to ৳409 and quietly lose ৳1 every match. Others round up to ৳410 and somebody ends up overpaying.

TurfLedger does it properly:

10 players × ৳409.09 + 1 player × ৳409.10 = ৳4,500.00

The total always matches the bill exactly. Even the last poisha has somewhere to go. It sounds small, but over a season of weekly matches, those rounding gaps are exactly where "I'm sure I paid" arguments are born.

3) Keep balances clear

Once a match is done, every player has a simple status:

  • Due: Arif still owes ৳409.10.
  • Credit: Nabil paid ৳500, so ৳90.91 sits as credit for next time.
  • Settled: Sami is all square at ৳0.

When someone pays, you record it, whether it was cash at the turf, bKash, Nagad or a bank transfer. The history stays intact, so you never have to scroll back through three weeks of chat to prove anything.

And overpayments are not lost. Extra money becomes credit that carries into the next match, which is how real teams actually work.

Built for the Team, Not Just the Captain

The person organising the match should not be the only one who knows the numbers. TurfLedger gives the whole squad one shared record, with the right level of access for everyone.

Owners manage the team and decide who gets access.

Admins manage records: matches, players and payments.

Members get a clear, read-only view. Players can check their own balance without asking, and without being able to edit anyone else's.

Best of all, players do not need accounts to get started. The organiser can set up the squad and start tracking from the first match. Nobody has to download anything before Friday.

One account, many squads

Most players are not in just one team. There is the Friday crew, the office XI and the weekend squad with your cousins.

TurfLedger keeps each team in its own space. Players, matches and money stay completely separate, so the office team's turf bill never leaks into your weekend balance.

A whole month, in one picture

At the end of the month, TurfLedger shows the full story: completed matches, turf costs, money received and each player's contribution.

No more "how much did we spend this month?" No more guessing whether the kitty is up or down. The ledger tells you.

Made for Bangladesh

Plenty of expense-splitting apps exist. Very few understand how football is actually organised here.

TurfLedger was designed around the way squads in Bangladesh play:

  • BDT first, with poisha-accurate maths instead of dollar rounding,
  • local payment habits, with cash, bKash, Nagad and bank records side by side,
  • turf culture, where a booked slot, a fixed price and a changing squad are normal every week,
  • the group-chat reality, where one organiser does the work and everyone else just wants to know what they owe.

It is not a general bill splitter with a football icon. It is a football ledger from the ground up.

Twenty Seconds Is All It Takes

We made a short film to introduce TurfLedger. It runs twenty seconds, which is roughly how long it takes to understand what the product does, and considerably less time than it takes to settle a turf bill over WhatsApp.

You can watch it on the TurfLedger website.

Why We Built It

Football squads all over Dhaka share the same problem: great matches, messy money.

While building TurfLedger, we noticed something interesting. The hard part of team expenses is not the maths. Anyone can divide a number by eleven. The hard part is trust. Everyone needs to believe the numbers are fair, and nobody wants to be the one asking for money again.

So we designed TurfLedger around clarity instead of features:

  • exact splits, so nobody wonders whether rounding went against them,
  • visible balances, so nobody has to ask,
  • a permanent history, so nobody has to argue,
  • and simple roles, so the organiser stays in control without becoming a bottleneck.

When the money is clear, the conversation goes back to football. Which is the point.

Ready for Your Next Match?

If you are the person who books the turf, collects the money and keeps the mental spreadsheet running every week, TurfLedger was made for you.

Set up your squad, plan your next match and let the ledger do the chasing.

Get started with TurfLedger, or get in touch with us if you have a question, an idea, or a squad to organise.

Keep the game. Lose the busywork.

Overview

Every football squad has one person quietly chasing money after the final whistle. TurfLedger is our new match and money ledger for football teams in Bangladesh: plan turf matches, split the bill fairly down to the last poisha, and always know who owes, who has credit and who is settled.
